GPS Buyer's Guide - What to Look For Before Buying a GPS

When looking for a good GPS, it is easy to get overwhelmed when comparing the many features that are available. First, decide what you will be using the GPS for. If it will just be for use in your car then you would not need some of the features that would appeal to hikers, boaters, or pilots. Some of the extra features will require that you pay an extra monthly fee, while the basic GPS satellite system is free to use. All you need is a GPS receiver unit and some batteries and you are good to go.

Screen

One of the most important features on a GPS is the screen. Look for a screen that is easy to read and features high contrast color LCDs. A transflective screen is easier to view in the bright sun. If the model you choose does not feature a transflective screen, you could consider adding a screen hood to the unit.

Dashboard Mount

If you will be using the GPS unit in your car or boat, you will want to look for a package that includes an easy to install dashboard mount.

Touch-screen Navigation

Touch screen navigation is a great feature that makes navigation as simple as tapping the screen instead of pressing buttons.

Voice Prompts

The quality of the audio is important. Look for clear audio quality with sufficient volume control. You must be able to hear the directions even if you are driving at higher speeds, people are talking, or you are listening to the radio. Some units have very powerful speakers built in while others feature a FM transmitter that broadcasts the directions through your car radio.

Routes

A very handy feature is the ability to load and recall previously used routes. This feature will also store all of the waypoints along the way as well as reverse directions.

Trip Computer

A trip computer will display useful data such as trip distance, odometer reading, average speed, current speed, trip distance, and trip timer.

Alarms

Units are available that will alert you if you are off course, upcoming approach and arrival, and upcoming waypoints. In the event you are using the GPS unit in your boat, you will be warned of shallow water and obstructions.

Basemap Units

Look for receivers that include current, built-in mapping software. Good software should include major highways, cities, rivers, lake, and airports. An important feature is the ability to easily download updated and more detailed mapping data as it becomes available. You will likely have to purchase the additional software, but the ability to access the location of gas stations, banks, restaurants and off road trails is valuable. You want a system that allows you to upgrade the maps so you can always access new roads or developments.

Start-Up Time

Shop for a unit that features a fast start-up time. A satellite that connects to 32 satellites will start up quicker than one that connects to 12.

Technology

Any system you consider should include the Sirf III chip. This is the latest technology and will locate satellites quickly. Models that do not include this should be avoided.

Portability

The ability to remove the GPS unit from your car is important if you plan to do any hiking, backpacking, or hunting.

Extra Features

While extra features will not affect the ability to access directions and locations, they can be a lot of fun. There are some systems that allow you to play XM radio, DVD's, MP3s and videos.

Microsoft GPS - New Global Positioning Satellite Systems

We learn about the nature and scope of regular GPS systems and how the latest Microsoft GPS programs have improved upon this concept for vehicle tracking beyond the earliest felt need of the US Defense Military services - for which they were first developed.

The nature of the GPS device, or the Global Positioning Satellite as it is actually called, is that it is a very advanced navigation system based on satellite communication made possible for the US Defense Military, thereafter the US public and other citizens of the world once it was recognized as being useful for public use. A GPS system was initially used by the general public for their vehicle tracking, which also acted as an anti-theft protection device and car-owners ended up saving a lot on auto insurance if their vehicles were equipped with GPS systems, too - most insurance companies gave discounted premiums for this feature in automobiles insured with them - such was the popularity of the GPS system.

The GPS system is actually a small box installed either on the dashboard or under the carriage of a vehicle, which works as a navigational aid for the driver, giving him directions to the destination point; it also helps a car owner locate a vehicle that has been loaned, borrowed without intimation by a family member or parked in a place they've overlooked in their search.

Thus, the utility of the standard GPS system is tremendous for car owners and long-distance travelers in a rented car even; the advanced software used in the latest GPS systems has the genius of the world's largest software company backing it so it's no wonder that there are constant improvements to the whole way it functions.

Yes, you guessed it right - the GPS system is a Microsoft creation and thought the company offers various levels (grades) of GPS programs, the common factor between all these is that the systems are very reliable besides coming with the Microsoft service guarantee, which is a very trusted name in the industry.

The scope of the Microsoft created GPS system is that it enables users to signal from their GPS receiver to their mobile phone, PDA or even their PC in a matter of minutes. Among their latest and best GPS range of products available in the US markets is the Streets and Trips 2007 system, which comes with an advanced GPS Locator along with the knowledge of Streets across the country, making it the top-selling travel and map software available anywhere in the world. It also comes with its own trendy GPS receiver so that drivers or travelers know exactly where they are at any given time of the day - it is even compatible with laptops, so you can map your route anywhere - anytime!

Fitted with updated SiRF star III technology, this new Microsoft GPS device is slated as being 10 times more sensitive than earlier models; so get set to locate your destinations faster and make dates sooner, for you're sure to be there on time, every time - with Microsoft GPS Streets and Trip 2007!

M88 Smartphone - Why This IPhone Clone With WiFi, GPS, Java, and Windows is One of the Smartest

The other day, I had someone contact me on one of my blogs asking if I thought it would make sense to get the iPod touch just for web surfing.  Since they were under the impression that none of the clones had WiFi, they wanted the iTouch for the web browsing.  They did not want to have to pay a lot of money for a monthly data package and since they already had a low cost cell phone and plan that they liked, they reasoned that they'd get the Touch just so they could get online.

I responded that I have nothing at all against the Touch, I'm sure it would work fine for these purposes.  However, I explained that there are actually a few clones that do have WiFi, so he could actually get web browsing, phone capabilities, MP3 / MP4, Bluetooth, digital camera / web cam, FM radio, etc. without ever having to leave the carrier he's with now (assuming he has a GSM carrier).  This article will focus on one of the clones that I suggested, the M88 smartphone, and will describe some of the features that make this one of the smartest clones on the market.

The M88 And WiFi (as well as GPS and Windows):  Other than the CECT T32, the M88 is one of the few decent clones that offers Wi Fi.  But, it also has GPS and Windows Mobile 6.0.  Many people really like having Windows on their phone since many use this at the office as well.  You can also use applications and software like SKYPE, MSN, Mobile QQ, Word, Excel, MSN Chat, and read / view PDF / PPT documents.

The M88 And Java:  It wasn't until recently that the iPhone clones started offering Java support in models like the i68 (SciPhone) and the i9.  This phone supports Java as well and has a very nice gaming experience. There are literally thousands of games available for download, including NES and Java QQ.  This phone vibrates during games which my kids really like.

The TV Out Feature: The MiPhone, (as this phone is also sometimes called), has what is called the "TV out" feature, which means that you can hook the phone up to a TV to show the video stored on the phone on a larger screen.  So, say you take video of your kid's soccer game for his grandparents.  They aren't stuck squinting to watch the game on a tiny screen.  They can watch it on your TV just by connecting the phone.

This phone doesn't have the "shake and tilt" feature, though.  But most people who want this phone are more interested in productivity and find shake control a bit "quirky."

Quad Band Upgrade:  Of the two smartphones I mentioned before (the T32 and this one) only this model is quad band.  The difference is the 850 MHZ band (some AT&T customers and some Cingular folks are on this).  Many people are totally fine with a tri band, but if you are on the 850 MHZ, you will need a quad band.

Camera(s) Upgrade: This phone actually has two cameras.  The main camera is 2 mega pixels, which is better than most clones, which have 1.3 MPs.  This phone also has a spare camera which is 0.3 aka VGA.  I'm not sure what the point of this is.  I only use the 2MP camera.

Expandable Memory And Transferring Data: You can transfer data with a USB data cable (which usually comes with the phone) or via memory card.

Price wise, this phone is typically well less than an iTouch (usually around $200 - $250, depending upon memory) and you're free to use your own carrier. You also have all of the other goodies typical of an iPhone.

GPS System Ratings - How They Make Traveling Simpler

A meeting of science, technology and new-age computerization, such as software programs offered by the world's largest software development company, Microsoft, have made it possible for the GPS systems to be used for a variety of purposes, including vehicle tracking, giving directions from specific regional destinations to other new and exotic locales across geographical borders thanks to instant internet access when used with a PDA or laptop besides of course, acting as an anti-theft protection for the automobile owner who has fitted his vehicle with the auto GPS system.

There is no dearth of options for the modern buyer of the GPS system today and one needs to carefully go over the market ratings for the latest and best GPS devices available in the market since it is flooded with cost-effective but suspect quality products as far as efficient GPS system scope goes. This makes it tough but not impossible for the new-age buyer of the GPS system today to scout and find the standard, quality and long-lasting value for money product when he enters the market to purchase a good quality GPS system.

To make an informed choice about the GPS systems available in the market today, a smart customer needs to research and know the choices before him in his budget range and combining the features he wants by studying various products already bought and reviewed by experts and the general public. There are various ratings for GPS systems, which are a good yardstick for judging the worth of the product and this is what consumers need to check out when considering making a purchase of a GPS system.

The ratings of a GPS system reveal the pros and cons associated with the device as well as informs the consumer of the kind of features he can look forward to if buying the system. It is advisable to always buy from a reliable company that has already established itself as a quality producer or retailer of standard GPS products and also allows for upgrades, so that your GPS system does not fail to deliver value to you after some time when improved grades of the same line hit the market.

It is not always the most expensive GPS system in the market which will give you the best service or information for your needs: you need to check out the reliability of the rating system of the GPS device as the product requires a chunk of your money, so may as well spend wisely.

You can visit www.epinions.com, which is a great site for checking out various product reviews, especially electronic products and these are marked by a point-system that makes it pretty easy for the virtual visitor to judge the quality of the product. For example, they may cover a certain brand of GPS systems, include the price, the kind of software and maps included as well as trip calculator features or form addition factors etc. which helps to make buyer?s decision easy and informative.

Magellan Maestro 4050 Review 2008

When you want a good GPS system, you always would possibly bet for the best one available in the market at the cheapest possible rates. Availing the best bargain in the market will, not necessarily, lack the updated features. The Magellan Maestro 4050 is one such GPS device featuring updated software and comparatively sleeker design than its contemporaries. The device comes with a high resolution interface with a spacious 4.3-inch touch screen. The device also offers much useful information on POI from the American Automobile Association (AAA). Apart from these, the Maestro 4050 has the data connectivity through the Bluetooth technology. The text-to-speech function of the device enables the Magellan Maestro 4050 to speak the real street and city names.

During the road testing session, the Magellan Maestro 4050 proved a little slow to recalculate routes than its contemporary GPS devices. The device also lacks an ease in the Bluetooth pairing process, as the user cannot transfer the contacts from the phone to the device.

The brand Magellan's Mastero series is quite affordable as well as compatible to the Gen-X people who love traveling a lot. Magellan's partnership with the American Automobile Association (AAA) helps provide useful travel information and an easy access to the roadside assistance.

The device is one of the best-looking portable GPS systems offered by the brand. Unlike its predecessor- 'Magellan RoadMate 2200T', the device sports a royal classic black with silver color scheme and has a more refined and streamlined built. It has a sleek profile with compact dimensions of 3.7 inches height and 5 inches width. The weight of the device is around 8.5 ounces.

The most unique aspect of the device is its minimalist design. The device is of simple construct, and is not loaded up with the external controls. The device has a power button, SD/MMC expansion slot, a mini USB port, a Reset button, 3.5mm headphone jack, and a power connector.

The Maestro 4040 has a spacious and high-end responsive 4.3-inch diagonal touch screen with a user-friendly interface which helps in adjusting the volume and other general operation much easier, featuring quite attractive icons and the menus that are easy to understand.

While in display, the device features good resolution with bright and colorful maps. The consumer can switch to the night mode whenever needed and the backlight adjuster helps to navigate the system in dark also. The screen has an antiglare coat, making the screen display quite readable in different light conditions.

The GPS device Magellan Maestro 4040 is well-equipped with a SiRF Star III GPS chip, which comes preloaded with Navteq maps of the United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico. Using the device, the user can get an overview map of the location s/he wants, or can select 'Enter Address' icon to input any address or intersection to find the directions. The Trip Planner option can plan a trip for more than 20 destinations. The QuickSpell feature helps speeding up the process of entering the text.

The device can calculate routes on basis of shortest distance, fastest time, least or most use of freeways, and toll-free roads. The Detour option of the device enables the user to avoid a particular chunk of the suggested route whenever the user wants. With a good performance, the device is a boon for all the people who want to freak out for a holiday to the unknown destinations, and want a device only to show the route and guide them.

GPS Devices - How Do They Work?

Unless you've been living under a rock, you certainly have heard of the Global Positioning System or GPS. There is a GPS for almost everyone: for hikers, drivers, bikers etc. You also find GPS modules on some advanced mobile telephones like the Nokia 6110 Navigator.

What is it?

In very simple terms, the Global Positioning System (GPS) uses radio signals from 4 satellites to locate the exact position of anything on Earth.

What does it cost?

Apart from the cost of buying one, using a GPS is free of charge. In fact some of the most basic GPS do just what they are about: guiding the driver from A to B via a graphic interface.

The most recent models come with a range of functions (MP3 player, slideshow, video player, blue tooth kit, and even digital TV!).

Some GPS have pre-installed POI (points of interest) such as garages, restaurants, parking etc. GPS makers have also added new value-added services such as live traffic update or a weather services like Tom-tom Weather on the GO 530/730/930).

You will need a subscription to most of those services however. Typically an annual subscription costs around $50, with unlimited updates.

Other options are free for a limited period only (for instance when a new map becomes available within 30 days of buying a new GPS, Tom-tom will let you download the map free).

What to look for?

• Ease of Use. If you are not too comfortable with gadgets, you might prefer going for a simple model. One that simply guides you from A to B without all the extras.

• Traffic Info. Some GPS offer real time info on traffic jams or road works. The GPS then recalculates your route - and offers an alternative one. These services are often charged so you'd better check before buying!

• Speed Cameras. Most GPS's come with a pre-installed list of speed cameras. And again here, you will need some form of subscription to update that list with new cameras.

• Maps. Some GPS only cover a limited geographic area. Others have more extensive maps like the Tom-tom Go 730. This type will be particularly useful for your holidays abroad. New maps can also be purchased as CD ROMs or on pre-loaded memory cards.

You can also download off the website of most GPS makers. After download, you then transfer the maps onto the GPS using either a memory card, a USB cable or a Bluetooth kit (if your GPS has Bluetooth).

• Screen Size. This usually varies between 3.6 and 4.3 inches. As a rule, especially for car GPS, information on the screen should not be too hard to read. But this should not be a problem considering that most new GPS's come with voice navigation.

Bluetooth GPS Device - It Makes Getting Lost Less Trouble and More Fun

From the time that Ericsson first came out with Bluetooth to the present many changes have taken place that are affecting every different aspect of our lives. Some Benefits

Essentially, by opting to buy a Bluetooth GPS device you can be sure of getting many benefits including those of standard communication protocols plus low power consumption as well as safe means of communicating over a very limited range. Bluetooth GPS devices are very handy and they are also very efficient in the amount of energy these devices consume and because Bluetooth is all about wireless communications there is also no worry on account of having to deal with unwieldy and messy wires.

A typical Bluetooth GPS device is sure to help you communicate as well as share accurate information regarding your exact location. In fact, with the help of a Bluetooth GPS device you can now avail of the benefits of its tracker system to find your way in case you get lost. Garmin Nuvi - Breaking Down the Product Line

Garmin nuvi navigation is a brand within Garmin's "on the road" product division. How confusing is an entire "on the road" product division? The Garmin nuvi brand represents over 30 different products alone! This is not a bad thing though. This means there is a product for every possible use on land, off-road and even out on the water. Typical uses may be for automotive navigation, a personal assistant on the go, use for your motorcycle, hiking, touring, on a boat or in your big rig. Access maps for the United States, all of North America or go international.

Depending on whom you ask the Garmin nuvi navigation lineup is separated into over 8 different series. Each series is separated from each other by their list of features, style and technical upgrades. The divergence between personal handheld gps units resembles a similar divergence in big screen televisions. The more desirable products are generally wider, brighter and sleeker than the rest and Garmin nuvi gps units are no different. Prices vary from 200 to 1000 dollars.

Garmin Nuvi 200 Series

The nuvi 200 series gps systems are entry level personal gps units designed to be used in your car or around town. The upgrades that separate each model in the series revolve around the included map coverage (either USA or North America), the addition of a wide screen display, and the ability to speak street names. The suggested retail prices range from 200 - 400, but you can easily find them a little cheaper at Amazon.com or any other electronics retailer.

Garmin Nuvi 205 Series

Garmin 205 series was recently released in August of 2008. At first glance the Garmin 200 and 205 series seem to be identical in form and function, but the added features in the 205 series are way better for the same price. Turn-by-turn directions, Bluetooth capable, traffic compatible, and the "where am I?" feature set the 205 series apart in the affordable gps class.

Garmin Nuvi 300 Series

Garmin nuvi navigation systems used to include the 300 series but according to Garmin's website they have been discontinued. I will mention them here because you can still find them in the marketplace at great discounts! The nuvi 300 series acts as your international navigator, translator, entertainer and tour guide. They have a slue of upgrades that include Bluetooth compatibility for hands-free calls (required in some states), 2-D and 3-D maps, custom points of interest (POI) and the ability to add traffic alerts to steer you home. These products are a great value for Christmas and represent an upgrade from Garmin's 200 series gps units.

Garmin Nuvi 500 Series

The Garmin nuvi 500 and 550 represent all of Garmin's 500 series. These two models offer all of the same traffic, voice and map features of the 205 series. The upgrades are designed for a rugged existence for the go anywhere do anything type. Both models are waterproof (I have seen them used while completely submerged) and include multi-mode navigation ready for you to drive, hike, bike or boat. My favorite feature is the ability to travel off-road! The 500 series products are ironically enough . . . around 500 bucks MSRP.

Garmin Nuvi 700 and 705 Series

The Garmin nuvi 700 and 705 series is Garmin's entry into advanced personal automotive navigation systems. All 700 and 705 series nuvi's are wide and sleek, have sunlight-readable displays, and options like route planning and an emergency locator. Bluetooth compatible for hands-free calling, mp3 player, pre-loaded street maps for Europe and North America, local and custom points of interest (POI) are just a few of the over 20 included features. With MSN direct services, the nuvi 700 and 705 series becomes a virtual travel assistant, with the ability to update traffic, news and weather in real-time.

Garmin Nuvi 800 Series

Whereas the nuvi 700 series has virtually all of Garmin's available automotive features, the nuvi 800 series has all of that . . . plus "voice activation". Choose menus and commands hands-free and get that pimped out look for your car with its huge screen and ultra thin display. It is the thinnest automotive gps in the nuvi lineup. Both the Garmin nuvi 850 and the Garmin nuvi 880 come with an MSN direct receiver and 3 months free service, as well as, the suction mount, remote, USB cable, and quick start manual. These are the type of units you see professionally mounted in luxury cars.

Garmin Nuvi 5000

The Garmin nuvi 5000 is dedicated to a life on the road. Perfectly designed for RV and truck drivers it comes equipped with the largest display (5.2 inch display) of all Garmin nuvi products. The navigation capabilities of the nuvi 5000 are the real reason this unit is great for the dedicated traveler. This model comes preloaded with City Navigator NT street maps, a million points of interest (POI) and up to 3000 programmable favorite locations. The nuvi 5000 can keep your interest during a long pit stop with Garmin games, jpeg picture viewer, and mp3 player. The wireless FM transmitter allows you to here voice prompts, mp3 and audio books through your car stereo. You can even hook it up to a rear view camera to assist you with safely backing up your rig. This is the best choice of all Garmin nuvi gps systems for dedicated use in your car.

Summary

If you have heard the buzz about Garmin nuvi products, I hope this was able to clear the muddy waters that comprise the over 30 different Garmin nuvi products. Your choice really depends on your lifestyle and necessary features. The advanced navigation systems are great for frequent travelers, professional drivers or sleek automotive upgrades while the remaining Garmin nuvi systems offer anything for the person on the go, off-road or in traffic, at home or abroad. The Garmin nuvi products have something for everyone and they are still the industry leader for ease of use and style.

GPS Review - TomTom ONE XL Widescreen Bluetooth GPS Navigator

I've just had the chance to place my excited little hands around the new TomTom One XL. Previously a Garmin GPS fan I was determined to keep an open mind about whether the new TomTom One XL could live up to the hype. Well my GPS friends you will not be disappointed.

As you know previously I have only full endorsed two GPS's and they were the Garmin 350 & 660. Well now we have another winner to add to the list - the TomTom One XL.

This little beauty is equipped with a 4.3 inch screen and weighs in at 7.4 ounces. Apparently it is an upgraded version of the TomTom One 3.5 inch but since I haven't seen the former I can't say how alike they are.

The pixel definition is superb. All the map info is now stored on a tiny flash-drive inside the unit which makes for updating maps very easy.

Overall the reason that the TomTom has impressed me so much is that the screen clarity, auto zoom and screen refresh rate is flawless.

Now with all this excitement you would think that I'm about to propose marriage, but alas it is my duty to give you both the good and the bad on this little navigator and there are few areas where the function lets you down.

Most notably is that you are unable to see the names of the roads that are upcoming on your map until you are practically already on them. If you completely trust the system or are familiar with the roads in the area then that won't be a problem but if you are like me and need to know a few streets in advance what street name that you'll be turning at then that can be frustrating.

If you are a control freak like me then that one flaw might cause a bit of annoyance but overall I think the TomTom One XL is a winner.

With a GPS Tracking Device Employers Can Keep Tabs on Their Employees

GPS technology has moved away from being elitist to more mainstream and today many more people are using GPS in one form or another. This in turn has led to more GPS tracking devices being used and it is in fact not very unusual to find that people that you know have been using GPS tracking devices in their automobiles, or they may be using handheld as well as portable GPS devices. In any case GPS technology is here to stay.

“Big Brother”

However, to some people, the GPS tracking device means a kind of “Big Brother” with visions of mind control being exercised on the minds of people in order to enslave them and make them become totally dependant on such devices. The more rational minded people will however look at the GPS tracking device as a means to monitor where their vehicles are at a given point in time and to also ensure that their employees are not misusing their company transport.

With the help of GPS tracking devices it has become possible to identify the owner of vehicles and to also encourage the proper use of company vehicles by employees. Of course, many people will contend that employers should repose more trust in their employees and not try and treat them as criminals who need to be tracked with the help of devices such as a GPS tracking device.

However, in case an employee does not follow rules and is caught speeding in a company vehicle the employer will be alerted in a timely manner by the GPS tracking device installed in the company vehicle. This ensures that the employer can haul the errant employee over the coals and it can ensure that the vehicle is not misused and that will lead to greater economy of fuel and better safety of the vehicle.

A GPS tracking device can also help people keep track of whether the vehicle is being used after hours and even when the vehicle is being misused by employees for other activities including for moonlighting. In addition, this device can help you resolve as well as verify claims for overtime and the company can know without doubt that tasks entrusted to the employee have been carried out.

Best of all, with the help of a GPS tracking device you can easily verify the exact location of your vehicle and this information along with a time stamp can provide irrefutable proof of the whereabouts of your vehicle. When it comes to figuring out which the best GPS device is you will find a few devices that stand out from the rest. Among these are the Garmin Nuvi 880 and the HP iPaq rx5900 Travel Companion as too the Magellan Maestro 4250. Though comparisons are said to be odious, they can, when used properly help you judge different GPS devices and establish which one is the best.

CECT T32 Wi-Fi - One of the Few Good iPhone Clones With Wi-Fi, Windows Mobile and GPS

Since I often write about the import clones, I sometimes get emails from my blog.  One of the more recent, common questions is "what or which iPhone clones have Java?" To answer this question, there are only a few, that in my opinion, are decent and loaded.  These are the M88 and the T32.  In this article, I will go over some of the features of the T32 Wi-Fi to help you decide if it may be a good phone or a good fit for you.

The Long Awaited Trinity: Wi-Fi, Windows Mobile 6.0, and GPS: The iPhone clones have pretty much been called "smartphones" from the start.  That's because the Chinese manufacturers threw everything but the kitchen sink into these phones.  You can browse the web, use Bluetooth, listen to MP3s, watch MP4s, take photos, take video, listen to the radio and read e books.

But, after a while, consumers start to call for a "real smartphone" among the clones.  They wanted a phone comparable to the original or to phones like Rimm's Blackberry or the Nokia N95.  They wanted phones that were more like true PDAs with a Windows interface. This process was extremely slow going.  Even on the Chinese clone of the Nokia N95, GPS was lacking.  The T32 was the first really decent attempt at having all three of these features in one phone.

Other Features And Specs Of The CECT T32:  As mentioned before, the T32 has everything you've come to expect from the clones.  It has 2GB of expandable memory and is a tri band phone. It is contract free.  You insert a sim card from any applicable GSM carrier and you are good to go.  This allows for a lot of flexibility with which type of plan you need (or don't need.)  The phone on this one is also a bit of an upgrade, at 2MPs as opposed to the typical 1.3 MPs on many clones. It also has the popular Java 2.0, that is included in many of the newer clones.  This allows for third party downloads, applications, and software. So again, it's more of a "smartphone / PDA" experience.

This phone is not considered a mini.  It's full sized, and feels, looks and acts like the iPhone more, in my opinion, than many of the others.  The full size allows for comfortable texting, data entry, reading, scrolling, and editing.

Pricing On The T32: The cost of this phone is not as bad as you might expect.  It is one of the more expensive models on the market, (usually in the $200 and up range) but it is also the most loaded and probably the most complete as well.

To view close up video, photos, full specifications and real time rock bottom pricing on the CECT T32 Wi-Fi, please click here or visit http://t32clonephonereview.com/

Garmin Versus TomTom

Caught between the thin red line of selecting the best GPS in town, depends on where you are stuck, in the Alps or in the Ural mountains, some might find the phrase hilarious but solemnly choosing a GPS with so much to choose from banks solely on the geographical location. In other words it is the battle of two versatile worlds of brands when it comes to buying a GPS. In America folks would tell you to opt for Gramin basically due to its pioneering credentials but on the other hand in Europe, the gentlemen would say, "I am afraid we would like to acknowledge TomTom as our GPS".

Both the brands are market leaders in their own vicinity and geographical demographics, and there is without a shadow of doubt that Gramin is the market leader in North America while TomTom operates at the highest levels in the markets of Europe.

Gramin is said to be the pioneer in the industry of GPS navigation and a market leader in United States Of America, particularly because it holds the detailed map of the entire country. Gramin has traveled time and space since its first invention and the contemporary ones are equipped exemplifying and swift touch screen visual operating system aligned with small speakers, the latest models such as nuvi 880 at a price band of $900 which is compact and sleek enough to slide smoothly into your pocket and adorn the palm of you're hand. Its fast satellite acquisition time, even in cloudy and crowded areas align it with the latest technologies innovated for GPS industry. The FM traffic receiver acquaints you with the real time traffic alerts and uploads to take you to your destination from a more convenient route than which was destined. Gramin comes exclusively with its personal database, aiding your journey with information about food, lodging and transit establishments. Language Guide, SD card and Travel Kit are some of the other unique features which make it the most adorable and admired GPS among the American consumers. Nuvi 200 and nuvi 350 which comes at a comparatively cheaper price band of $150 and $200 respectively are two models which are often recommended for the novices at the entry level in the GPS industry.

Tom Tom is a darling of European markets and are known for their cheaper and affordable price bands procuring state of the art technology for peanuts, in the European markets, but that does not signify that a technology which comes cheap has a catch; in fact owing to its market value Tom Tom has gradually amalgamated into the developing and promising markets such as India, China and other South East Asian countries. Among other advantages Tom Tom is known for its reliable and perpetually updated maps. This is something where its competitors have lagged, who has focused their entire strengths on technology rather than the basic purpose of GPS itself. Tom Tom made headlines back in nineties with its in genuine, "Navigator 1", and since then there was no time for the company to look back. Navigator 2 was the next milestone the company set out, before coming up with an entirely latest flabbergasting model of "Tom Tom Go" in 2004 which is armored with features like Bluetooth, touch screen functionalities with huge database of the terrain. Tom Tom not only is a blessing in disguise for the motorists or car travelers as it procures an advanced warning of those hidden cameras with tickets. Another unique asset added to it is the feature of map share which guides you verbally on every direction, so that the drivers can concentrate more on the road rather than the GPS itself. Voice recognition and language selection from over 30 countries provide it with a versatile cloak of superiority over its competitor in terms of safety and usage. The unique feature of "help me" grafted with the Tom Tom GPS guarantees of taking you out of a pickle, on a road trip or journey to a distant land. The database is updated on regular bases for the destinations and land marks of the gas stations, hospitals and other exit points which can be of paramount help, when in a destitute situation.

Some of the critics believe that Gramin has the upper hand and it can out flank the rival Tom Tom by the back of its hand, but as per my opinion, indeed Gramin has the upper hand in technology, but Tom Tom is one company which has made GPS for the common man and visualizing its requisites at a much affordable price structure and offers the best for the true potential and value for your money.

The Broad Array of Kids GPS Devices - Tracking Devices For Your Children

Today advances in science and technology for Global Positioning System (GPS) units make it easier to keep track of kids and monitor their whereabouts. For infants and very young children, GPS devices can be in the form of easy to use and very inexpensive clips that are attached to clothing or shoelaces, much like a key chain. These clips look like teddy bears or other cute children's toys and allow peace of mind through easy monitoring by the parent.

There is something in every price range, including very small electronic devices which can be placed in car seats, strollers, or a backpack worn by a child. These tiny devices may be only two inches tall and one inch wide - but can also cost several hundred dollars.

For slightly older young children, GPS kids devices can be in the form of a very inexpensive and easy to wear wrist watch that is attractive to children. Parents can set a safe zone, such as a yard, and the device will notify parents if the child leaves the safe zone, such as going out of the yard through the gate. Parents can monitor the child through a GPS tracker, or through any computer. These devices can be set to sound an alarm if a child falls in a swimming pool. They can also be set to alert a child if the child has gone too far, providing an added safety net for parents.

GPS kids devices have pagers and also have safety locks, which help to prevent the watch from being removed. Two way communications are possible for the parent and child. This can be helpful in a situation where a child has turned away from the parents or has wandered a bit and cannot immediately spot the parents.

For older children, there are inexpensive GPS wrist watches that function like a cell phone. Children can send their location as an address to their parents' cell phones. This is useful when a child visits a friend after school but may not be able to accurately describe the friend's address to the parent and makes it much easier for the parent to locate the friend's house. Alternately, the GPS kids watch allows the parent to track their children's location over the internet.

For the child who is very involved in outdoor activities, such as snow skiing and snowboarding, there are sports models that can signal the snowboarder or snow skier's exact location in the event that the child becomes separated from the group or lost in the snow.

For added peace of mind, Global Positioning Systems also have the advantage of working in areas where cell phones do not function. With so many choices, there are options for every parent for every stage of childhood.

GPS Tracking Devices Save You Time and Money

You know what they say, "Time is money." So if you can find a way to save both time and money, why not make the investment?  A GPS device can do just that.

Whether you manage a fleet of trucks or a household, a GPS system can assist you as you try to get things done. Because everyone has a bottom line and no one wants to see money fly out of the window due to poor planning. GPS tracking can make route planning easier and get you to where you want to go with fewer hassles.

If you live in an area with heavy traffic, you know that shaving a few minutes of driving time here and there means you spend less time on the road and more time doing the things you really want to do. Even if you are not in an area with heavy traffic, your time is valuable and you probably don't want to spend more of it on the road than you have to.

A GPS tracking device can give you the most efficient route to reach your destination. Not only will you save time, but you'll also save on fuel. And that really is a big deal. As you try to combine errands and get the most out of a tank of gas, it only makes sense to make sure you are not taking some route that causes you to spend more time idling at traffic lights than necessary. A GPS device can give you information on routes that you can travel with fewer stops and starts.
